The search ends… … a voyage begins. Bhutan has the rare distinction of being one of the last surviving hidden kingdoms on earth. This landlocked paradise is full of hidden wonders & striking natural beauty that in many ways exceeds the expectation of the modern traveler. In addition, Bhutan has strong links with the past, its culture permeating in all walks of life, be it the traditional dress worn by the locals or the traditional greeting solemnly spoken. Bhutan is filled with white – washed monasteries, perched precariously on top of craggy hill sides; all monasteries end with the word ‘Dzong’ which means fortress. A rare combination of strong culture, exhilarating beauty & imposing monastic structures satisfies the interest of the curious visitor.
DAY 1. Arrive New Delhi
Transfer to Park Hotel or similar. Breakfast. Full day sightseeing tour of New Delhi includes a cycle rickshaw tour of old Delhi followed by a visit to Jama Masjid, Red Fort, Qutab Minar, Lodhi Tombs, Presidents Palace & India Gate. Dinner & Overnight at Hotel.
DAY 2. PARO
Breakfast. Depart New Delhi for Paro by Druk Air. On arrival transfer to Olathang Hotel/Druk Hotel. Rest of day free. Dinner & overnight at hotel.
DAY 3. PARO
Breakfast. A.M & P.M. Visit the Ta Dzong National Musuem & Drukyel Dzong. Visit Taktsang also known as ‘Tigers Nest’ Though burnt down, the excursion is worth a vsit. Dinner & overnight at hotel.
DAY 4. THIMPU
Breakfast. Depart Paro for Thimpu by car. Transfer to Druk Hotel. P.M. visit the Taschicho Dzong,a fortress constructed in a truly Bhutanese style with a display of dragons & paintings. The Chorten Memorial comes next & finally the Changlimathang ground known for its archery contests. Dinner & overnight at Hotel.
DAY 5. THIMPU
Breakfast. Day free at Thimpu to visit Simtokha Dzong. Dinner & Overnight at hotel.
DAY 6. GANGTEY
After breakfast drive east climbing steadily towards the Dochula Pass at 3300 metres. The drive downhill & at the confluence of the HoChu & MoChu rivers you find the Punakha Dzong. Drive across the open valleys to Gangtey, the winter home for migrating birds & dominated by the yellow roofed Gangtey monastery. Dinner & overnight at the Gangtey Gompa Guest House.
Day 7. GANGTEY
Day free to enjoy the beauty of nature in its pure & unadulterated form. Dinner & overnight at Guest House.
DAY 8. BUMTHANG
After breakfast, a five hour drive across the Black Mountain brings you to Tongsa,a place of formidable beauty situated in Central Bhutan. Visit the Tongsa Dzong overlooking the Mangde river & having 23 temples, a maze of courtyards & corridors. After Lunch, drive to Bumthang. Dinner & overnight at Wangdichholing.
DAY 9 & 10. BUMTHANG
Ranging in altitude from 2600 to 4000 meters, the huge & open valley is a haven for trekkers. Visit the Jambe & Tamshing Lakhang, two of the oldest temples in Bhutan. Dinner & overnight at hotel.
DAY 11. WANDIPHODONG
Breakfast. Depart for Wangdi. Arrive & transfer to Hotel Zangtophelri. Dinner & overnight at hotel.
DAY 12. PARO
Breakfast. Depart for Paro, transfer to hotel. Dinner & overnight at Hotel.
DAY 13. DELHI
Breakfast. Depart Paro for New Delhi. Tansfer to Park Hotel or similar. Late evening depart for international airport for onward departure for Europe/North America.
Tour cost per person, double occupancy, single supplement, child with extra bed/without extra bed.
